Beginning with the Sewer Pass NFTs in January 2023, HV-MTL evolved through Dookey Dash and The Summoning, where gameplay scores determined the rarity of rewards. This marked the first chapter in Yuga Labs' innovative Web3 gaming experience.
The HV-MTL journey began with Sewer Passes in January 2023, which served as keys to Yuga Labs' first skill-based minting game, Dookey Dash. Players' in-game performance would later determine the rarity and value of their rewards.
The Summoning event in March 2023 transformed these Sewer Passes into mysterious "Power Sources" - what would later become known as HV-MTL. This genesis chapter set the foundation for all subsequent developments in the HV-MTL ecosystem and represented a significant innovation in Web3 gaming.
From January 17th to February 8th, 2023, BAYC and MAYC holders were able to mint Sewer Pass NFTs for free. These passes served as keys to Yuga Labs' first skill-based minting game.
Dookey Dash was a skill-based running game where players' scores were linked to their Sewer Pass. Higher scores led to better rewards in the upcoming Summoning event. After the initial game period, Yuga released "Toad Mode" for players with zero scores.
On March 15th, 2023, The Summoning event transformed Sewer Passes into mysterious "Power Sources" - the first evolution of HV-MTL. The rank achieved in Dookey Dash determined which of the 8 different types of sources a player would receive.
HV-MTL Forge was a social and competitive crafting game where players created and maintained a forge to keep their HVs productive. The gameplay spanned six seasons, with the sixth season rewarding players with ApeCoin in the final 'Big Raid Boss' battle.
Amps were designed to be rewards in the HV-MTL Forge game, intended to augment HVs and represent the next evolution (EVO2). However, the actual minting of Amps never occurred before the Faraway acquisition, and Faraway later took over this responsibility.
On April 17, 2024, Yuga Labs announced that Faraway would be acquiring the HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara brands. As part of the deal, Yuga's Chief Gaming Officer Spencer Tucker joined Faraway as their new Chief Product Officer.
With Faraway now at the helm, the HV-MTL journey continues to evolve. Holders can look forward to new developments, deeper integration across multiple products, and an expanding narrative as these digital assets find their place in the broader Web3 gaming ecosystem.
